Flickers in our back yard. Mom and Dad getting to know one another.
Click here for photos of the stump and nest building.

Male and female flicker on our stump.

Looking out the nest, building a home in our stump.

The male flicker with his head popping out of the hole to his home.

Hungry little baby! I thought there were three, but the nest is deep and my camera will not fit in, so I cannot tell for sure.

baby bird with his eyes not open yet, and his mouth WIDE open waiting for food.

There is the hole in the stump, where I cannot see it from our sliding door.

The hole in the stump where the flickers have built their nest.

Baby has grown up in just a couple of weeks! We think this is a male because of the red on his throat.

One male flicker baby waiting in the nest.

While I got closer to take pictures I saw four (4) little birds in there! Until I scared them and they all hunched down to hide.
